A: Yes, please contact us!
Q: How often does a club meet?
A: We typically meet 2-3 times per month on Wednesdays and occasionally Saturdays and weekends.
Q: Can Mom and Dad come to club meetings and events with me or do they drop me off and pick me up after the meeting?
A: JFW is a parented program in which parents participate alongside their children in learning about Ecology, Forestry, Leadership and Woods travel.
Q: How old do I have to be to join?
A: Children as young as 6 years old can join JFW. There are 4 major divisions:Pathfinders –Ages 6-8Trailblazers –Ages 9-11Adventurers-Ages 12-14Challengers –Ages 15-18
Q: Do clubs have a mix of ages, or all one age group?
A: Clubs are mixed. The pathfinders and trailblazers are together mostly, though sometimes we have activities for just pathfinders or just trailblazers. The adventurers and challengers will have their own set of activities, but occasionally help teach skills to the pathfinders and trailblazers.

A: Junior Forest Warden activities focus on our 4 Pillars of: Forestry, Ecology, Leadership, and Outdoor Skills. JFW helps children and youth develop skills while having fun and helping their community,
Q: Do we have to fundraise?
A: We expect everyone to help us with three bingos. When we accept registration fees, we will also ask for a bingo retainer cheque of $225 THAT WE WILL NOT CASH if you help us work 3 bingos. If you cannot work a bingo, then money will be transfered to another family who will work an additional bingo for you at a rate of $75/bingo. You may luck out and only have to work 2 bingos and be a spare that is not called for one of the three bingos. We do not do any other fundraising currently.
Q: Is Junior Forest Wardens a government program?
A: JFW used to be run directly through the Department of Sustainable Resource Development, but became an independent organization in 2007. It is now run by a volunteer Board of Directors, with each club having their own leaders and volunteers.
Q: I’m almost 18 now, is it too late to join the Junior Forest Wardens?
A: We welcome children and youth of all ages to join. There are opportunities for older Wardens and adults to develop training, mentoring, and leadership skills that will assist you in becoming future leaders in the JFW program and/or in your community.
Q: I used to be a member, and would like to be involved again. What can I do?
A: We have a JFW Alumni Association for anyone who was a member for 3 years. Formed in April 1994, the Alumni Association is not only a group for JFW who want to stay in touch after club involvement, but we also provide support and act as a resource to the AJFWA at the club and provincial level.
